Color Phase Bears.

Rugged Country. Unforgettable Pursuit.

Guided black bear hunts in Northern Idaho—chase bears through high-country clear cuts, thick timber, and berry-covered hillsides with expert guides and world-class hounds.

Prime bear country

Our Northern Idaho bear hunting country is known for a strong population and a wide range of color-phase black bears—black, red, blonde, cinnamon, and chocolate.

We hunt active logging country, where fresh clear-cuts draw bears in with thick vegetation and heavy berry growth—natural magnets for spring and fall bruins.

Bears typically range from 150 to 300 pounds, with larger mature males encountered often.

Spring Season:

Mid-April through end of June

  • Bears emerge with thick, full coats after hibernation
  • Also supports predator management during elk and deer calving season
  • One of the few Idaho outfitters offering a two-bear hunt

Fall Bear Hunts:

Fall hunts are also available, please contact us for timing and options.

Hunt Methods

All hunts begin with a short 4x4 or ATV ride into bear habitat. On our guided black bear hunts in Northern Idaho, we offer the following methods depending on the season and your preference:

Hound Hunts (Most Popular)

  • Start by cutting a fresh track
  • Release our BearPath-Plott hounds, trained to pursue and tree bears
  • Track the pack via radio collars while you stay with the vehicle
  • When the bear is treed, we guide you in for the final stalk

Bait Hunts (When Available)

  • Hunt from a strategically placed tree stand or blind
  • Bait sites are rotated annually and stocked with fresh bait
  • A patient, watchful style for hunters who prefer to sit and wait
Bear Paw

“This isn’t just a bear hunt. It’s a full-immersion predator experience in the heart of Idaho wilderness.”
