Heavy Bulls. Big Country. Hard-Earned Tags.
Guided 7-day Shiras moose hunts in Idaho with experienced guides who know where heavy-bodied bulls feed, bed, and disappear.
THE QUIET GIANT OF THE CLEARCUTS
Drawing an Idaho Shiras moose tag is a rare opportunity. This isn’t a casual add-on to your season—it’s a serious hunt for a serious animal.
Shiras moose may be the smallest of the North American moose subspecies, but they still:
Weigh in at around half a ton
Carry wide, impressive antlers
Can run up to 35 mph for several minutes
They prefer:
Clearcuts and areas of regeneration
Woody vegetation like willow, poplar, and birch—stripping leaves, twigs, and bark
Aquatic vegetation in lakes and streams
When you finally step into range on a bull you’ve worked to find, you’ll understand why so many hunters consider a Shiras moose hunt the ultimate big game challenge.
To date, moose hunts have been 100% success rate here at Idaho Whitetail Guides.
Why Hunt Shiras Moose with Idaho Whitetail Guides?

On a guided Shiras moose hunt with Idaho Whitetail Guides, you can expect:
Experienced guides who know where moose tend to feed, bed, and travel
Long glassing sessions in clearcuts, regenerating timber, and key feeding areas
Alternative hunt locations when the action is slow or conditions shift
A hunt shaped around your tag, your unit, and your season dates
You’re not guessing your way through big, confusing country. You’re hunting with someone who knows the roads, the timber, and how these animals use the landscape.
